The Roadies: Riverdale Baptist 7v7

Scott is a big defensive back with ideal size for a safety. His frame is already pretty filled out and he quickly reacts to what he sees in front of him. As continues to convert from cornerback to safety, Scott is focused on getting out of his backpedal faster. His physicality was impressive as well. Scott's strength helped him knock down passes when receivers already had the ball in their hands. Wisconsin, Arizona, Indiana and Pittsburgh are in the best position to land a commitment from Scott, but Penn State and Michigan State are lurking.
Rising Star
DL Austin Fontaine, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha (2018)
Fontaine burst onto the scene after picking up an offer from Georgia over the weekend and it's pretty obvious he will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. The linemen were just going through drills, but he burst out of his stance and his aggressive hand techniques are very impressive for a player his age. Fontaine is just finishing his freshman year and he's already 6-foot-3, 280 pounds.
Physical Specimen
DE Shane Simmons, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Simmons was playing some tight end during the 7-on-7 games and his pure athleticism is outstanding. We've seen the Penn State commit develop over the years since he was an incoming freshman and it is just amazing how big he has gotten without losing any of his speed, balance or coordination. Look for Simmons to continue to get stronger and pack on good weight.
Fastest
RB Anthony McFarland, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha (2017)
McFarland wasn't the only speed demon, but he got to show it off more than others. He caught balls over the middle and made a few defenders miss before picking up big chunks of yards. Georgia still leads for the compact running back, but Michigan and many others will get a chance to impress him during visits.
Best Feet
ATH Darryl Turner, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Turner spent time on offense and defense and, as usual, experienced a lot of success. As a safety, he jumped a lot of crossing routes and did a good job breaking up passes thrown in front of him. On offense, his great route-running abilities helped him get open in critical situations in the red zone.
Best Hands
WR Tino Ellis, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Ellis didn't make every catch, but he made some of the toughest catches in traffic. He is a hard worker that isn't afraid to get physical over the middle or down the field on jump balls. Ellis had a lot of success running post routes and crossing routes in the end zone. He is going to release an updated top five soon and will commit on July 31. Expect Maryland and Virginia Tech to be on the list.
Beast Mode
OL Marcus Minor, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha (2017)
Again, the linemen were just going through drills and working out, but it's easy to see his athleticism and potential. He is very quick twitch for a guy that's 6-foot-4, 285 pounds. Minor, one of Virginia Tech's newest offers, is very lean and there is still room for him to add muscle and more good weight. He's the type of player a coach wants to get off the bus first at away games.
Shut 'Em Down
DB Brenton Nelson, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Nelson has been wrapped up in track season, but now that that's over, he is totally focused on football. That track speed served him well on Monday night and no receivers could really separate from him. Nelson already has offers from Wisconsin, Virginia, Kentucky and others, but once he puts out some film from this season, expect more offers to come in.
Body Guards
OLs Terrance Davis (left) & Elijah Johnson,
Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Davis is one of the best offensive linemen in the country and Johnson has improved by leaps and bounds since last season. These two are some of the most experienced linemen in the region and, with them and Minor up front, the DeMatha quarterback should feel very safe. DeMatha's running backs, which could be the most talented backfield in all of high school football, should not have a hard time find holes to run through with the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Davis and 6-foot-6, 310-pound Johnson paving the way. Michigan is leading a handful of other programs for Davis and Johnson is set to announce his commitment on July 25. Rutgers, Maryland and Pittsburgh seem like the top contenders for him.
