The Roadies: No. 1 shines in Dallas

Kaindoh is one imposing figure on the edge of IMG's defense. The 6-5, 241-pound junior prospect has a Shawn Oakman look to him. He's big, he's long, and he doesn't appear to have an ounce of fat on his frame. He also played pretty really well and got consistent pressure in the DeSoto backfield. He came off the bus looking ready to play, and he definitely brought it on the field.
Freak Athlete
WR Drake Davis | Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
In case you missed the memo, allow me to fill you in. Drake Davis is different. His burst, coordination and overall athleticism are unusual to say the least. He only recorded one reception - a 41-yard touchdown - but he did contribute in other ways. He was a playmaker on special teams, whether it was in the return game or leaping over the offensive line to block an extra point. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound standout is a big play threat whenever he is on the field.
Rough and Tough
TE Isaac Nauta | Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Honestly, I didn't know which Roadie to give Nauta, I just knew we had to give him something because he was so much fun to watch. He only had a reception for a two-point conversion on the day but he sure looked like he was having fun mixing it up in the trenches. He was punishing opponents whether he was lined up at tight end or coming off the edge at defensive end.
Smooth Operator
S Jeffrey Okudah (2017) | Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie
Okudah is listed at safety and he definitely has the size to play safety - or even linebacker - but he lined up at cornerback on Friday night against a very fast South Oak Cliff squad. Okudah is very comfortable in coverage. He is light on his feet and smooth in transition. His ability to explode out of his breaks and quickly change directions is tough to find, especially in prospects his size.
Off to the Races
RB La'Darren Brown | DeSoto (Texas)
When La'Darren Brown hits a seam defenses often just waive goodbye. Brown would not know, though, because his focus is straight ahead as he blows by defender after defender. In the second quarter he made sure everyone was aware of his explosive ability on two consecutive runs. The first was a 23-yard gain down the sidelines. The other was a 40-yard touchdown where he ran away from some of the best in the country.
Playmaker
S Greg Eisworth | Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie
The stat sheet will not tell the full story. Eisworth played quarterback and safety for South Grand Prairie, but this award is almost exclusively for his playmaking on the offensive side of the ball. Do not be fooled, Eisworth can throw the ball, and he did just that to put South Grand Prairies first points on the board. However, his burst and acceleration was nothing short of impressive. He ran away from South Oak Cliff a few times but only one got its full credit in the stat sheet. His 73-yard keeper saw him blow right past every defender on South Oak Cliff's talented squad.
Stock Raised
LB Hal Vinson | Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff
South Oak Cliff was without four-star linebacker Marvin Terry, but Hal Vinson showed he has a very similar skillset. Vinson was all-go all the time and he made several big plays. He forced an Eisworth fumble, he had several tackles for loss, he tracked plays down from the backside, he fought through blocks, and he helped give his team a chance to win. Once his tape starts making the rounds look for college coaches to take a very long look.
Everywhere Man
LB Randall Friday | DeSoto (Texas)
Fossil Ridge may have played on Thursday, but it was Friday's night. It might actually be easier to count how many defensive plays Friday was not in on for his high school squad. He fought off blockers, he made quick reads, and he made several tackles. He showed a lot of range and he did not give up on a play.
Mr. Motor
LB Loren Mondy (2017) | Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge
Mondy was a constant presence in the Fossil Ridge backfield for a very active Lake Ridge defense. He recorded three sacks and added a few tackles for loss. He was explosive off the ball from his defensive end position, and he showed some nice counter-moves on his way into the backfield.
New Name
WR Stefan Cobbs, Jr. (2018) | Keller (Texas) Fossil Ridge
Cobbs is a long, lean wide receiver with quick feet and explosive ability. He checks in at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds, and he already has already become a favorite target. He has a team-leading nine receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Thursday night he had two receptions for 19 yards, a tackle on an interception return, and he recovered a fumbled punt. He is also a member of the Fossil Ridge track team.
