The Roadies: Dana Hills Air Strike Passing Tournament

Robertson has a chance to be really special among a long line of outstanding players churned out by the Serra program. The 2018 prospect is a loose, fluid outside linebacker who seems to grow physically and in his game every time out. He covers so well, he can run with any receiver and he's great reacting to receivers across the middle. Robertson also showed that he will be a major asset in Serra's offense this year and he could have some of the best hands on the team. As one person in the program said, "He's the next one." Miami and Utah have offered so far but Robertson will be a national recruit.
Mr. Versatile
ATH Brandon Burton, Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Burton continued to do what he has done all offseason - have his way on offense and defense. The four-star prospect, who just scheduled his first official visit to Florida State, was unstoppable at receiver both in the deep and intermediate game and then at safety he has such good speed and instincts that he makes a play on the ball whenever it comes to his side. There are so many prospects that try to play both ways and it just doesn't work out. That's not the case with Burton, who is excellent on both sides of the field.
Blanket Coverage
LB Curtis Robinson, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Maybe no player in California has had a better offseason than Robinson, and he continued it at linebacker for his Mater Dei team on Saturday. The four-star prospect covers like a defensive back and he has such length and athleticism that he's always right in the hip pocket of receivers. What the Stanford commit showed even more of Saturday was his physical play. He jammed receivers right out of the play at the line of scrimmage and made life difficult for anybody on his side of the field.
Fastest
WR Dylan Crawford, Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic
Crawford is not necessarily the fastest player in a straight line but he's a really hard route runner who cuts extremely well and creates space late in his routes. When cornerbacks try to press the four-star receiver at the line, Crawford can accelerate right by them. If space is given, Crawford sets up cornerbacks and almost always seems to be open.
Best Hands
WR Andre Collins, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Collins has been plagued by injuries in the last few months but he's finally back in the fold and doing a nice job. On Saturday, the three-star prospect caught a few touchdowns and regularly got open on the outside against basically every cornerback. Collins is a big target at 6-foot-4, and he does a nice job of using his length to his advantage and catching the ball over smaller defensive backs. With more regular performances like this, offers should start coming his way.
Best Arm
QB K.J. Costello, Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic
Costello could throw a football through a brick wall. The Stanford commit puts such zip and pace on his passes that he has the ability to put them in tight windows and beat fast cornerbacks because they cannot react quickly enough. Arm strength has never been a question. The four-star also showed great touch on Saturday placing the ball in the corner of the end zone or putting air under it to let receivers catch up to the ball. That development in his game has been noticeable in recent tournaments.
Raised Stock
S CJ Pollard, Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Pollard was back at safety and did a tremendous job basically shutting down his side of the field. He doesn't let receivers behind him and when the ball is thrown the four-star defensive back has the ability to track it well and make a play on it. The Serra recruit showed another side of his game Saturday, lining up at receiver and catching some deep touchdowns and also some short passes that were difficult to haul in. He could be another weapon in Serra's offense next season.
Mr. Consistent
QB Devon Modster, Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Tesoro
Modster throws one of the prettiest passes around and he doesn't have to throw it 100 miles per hour to look impressive. The Arizona commit knows when he has to fire it into a tight window, he knows when to check down to someone coming out of the backfield, and he knows when to put some loft on his passes so receivers can catch up to it. Modster is a really smart and savvy quarterback who doesn't try to throw his arm out every time - he just puts the right amount of speed on every pass and hits receivers all over the field.
Physical Specimen
ATH Nathan Tilford, Upland, Calif.
This is not the first time Tilford has earned this award and it probably won't be the last. The 2017 four-star prospect, who won the running back MVP at the recent Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Los Angeles, can be unstoppable coming out of the backfield. He runs hard like a power back but is super fast and elusive in his routes and has the hands of a wide receiver. Michigan and UCLA still stand out most but it's early and others could get involved in his recruitment.
