The Roadies: Charter Oak Passing Tournament

Zion Echols does not have excellent size, but when it comes to speed there is no problem. The Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak three-star athlete was lethal as a slot receiver and also did an excellent job playing cornerback. He's so quick-twitch and so elusive in his route running that if the QB can hit him in the numbers then Echols can take it from there.
Best Feet
Marquel Dismuke | Calabasas (Calif.)
Calabasas, Calif., is absolutely loaded in the secondary so this was a tough call, but four-star California commit Marquel Dismuke is going to win this award, slightly edging out Boise State pledge Isaiah Hayes. Dismuke did an excellent job staying with receivers on deep routes but did even better not allowing receivers across the middle to catch passes. Numerous times, the four-star poked balls away and did a nice job running with wide receivers.
Best Hands
Tyler Vaughns | La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
Four-star Tyler Vaughns continues to prove he's one of the best receivers in this class. He has long arms and he's so smooth in his route running. Just throw the ball in his vicinity and Vaughns can go up and snatch it out of the sky. He rarely, if ever, drops passes and can get open on short, medium or long routes. Vaughns is a constant threat on the outside.
Super Standout
Trevon Sidney | La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
In one-on-one situations, Trevon Sidney is virtually unstoppable. The four-star from La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat repeatedly torched defensive backs with slick route running and the ability to accelerate to run under overthrown passes. Plus, he has such excellent hands and the unique ability to not slow down at all in his cuts. USC still looks the best in his recruitment but Washington and Notre Dame could get visits.
Raised Stock
Mique Juarez | Torrance (Calif.) North
Mique Juarez is already one of the top athletes in the country, and again the four-star USC commit showed up to an event and simply dominated. The more exposure the Torrance (Calif.) North prospect gets, the more it looks like he could arguably be the top player in the state this recruiting cycle. Juarez compares to a thicker Su'a Cravens at the same stage who slightly lacks in that freakish instinct category that made Cravens so special. But Juarez was outstanding at safety and quarterback on Saturday and looks like a million dollars on the field.
Underclassman Achievement
Jermani Brown | Calabasas, Calif.
Jermani Brown is starting to emerge as one of the better 2017 defensive prospect in California. Coming off an excellent showing at Rivals Camp last weekend, Brown shut down receiver after receiver on his side of the field. The Calabasas recruit is smooth in his backpedal and turns and runs with receivers. After a while quarterbacks stopped looking Brown's way because wide outs just could not get open. Arizona State, Boise State and Michigan State look best early on in his recruitment.
Best Arm
Tristan Gebbia | Calabasas, Calif.
Tristan Gebbia has an exceptionally strong arm and he can zip it all over the field. The 2017 four-star quarterback from Calabasas still needs to work on his reads and getting the ball to the right receiver, but in terms of the ability to put the ball where it needs to be and with significant pace, Gebbia had an impressive performance in this tournament. Georgia and UCLA are two new schools showing more interest.
