The Pitt recruiting train rolls on

The commitments continue to roll in for the Pittsburgh Panthers as Western Pennsylvania guard Eric Rodemoyer has become the latest commitment for Dave Wannstedt and his staff.
The 6-foot-3, 309-pounder picked Pittsburgh over an offer from Akron and interest from Notre Dame, Penn State and West Virginia.

"I don't know what stuck out about them, they're about a half an hour away and I'm a real big fan," he said. "The pharmacy program there stuck out a lot and that's what I really want to do. Finally, whenever I left from a visit there, I didn't want to leave. It just felt right. "
After a little time to think about the decision, the lineman is obviously comfortable with the commitment.
"I feel a lot better that it is all over with," he said. "It was a pretty easy decision and Pitt is where I wanted to be the whole time. I was just ready to do it and it felt right."
Rodemoyer officially told the coaches of his decision last night.
"They were really happy and they like me a lot," he said. "They were really excited that I'm coming on board and they told me that they are ready to win a national championship."
The guard is excited that he will join the team of fellow Western Pennsylvania stars.
"That's just great, it's a Western Pennsylvania team," he said. "There are great athletes and I'll know all the kids from camps. It's exciting that we'll all have that common bond."
The Hermitage (Pa.) Kennedy Christian prospect will pay particular attention to his new team next season.
"I'm excited to watch them this year, they look like they're going to do well," he said. "I'll pay attention to the offensive line for sure to see how they block and play. I want to get used to that and just see how the offensive line is. I plan to stop back there when coach Wannstedt gets back from Florida in mid-July and I'm looking at attending the first game against Notre Dame."
What are Rodemoyer's best attributes?
"I'm a hard worker and I don't quit," he said. "I am a hardnosed kid that mauls people, that's all I know."
Rodemoyer was named first team all-county and third team Class A all-state as a junior.
