The latest with 2019 4-star Joseph Wete

With one game left in his junior season Joseph Wete, one of the top edge defenders in the 2019 class, has about 15 scholarship offers. The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga defensive end outlined his recruitment during this season and explains some of his plans for the offseason.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"Michigan, USC, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and Penn State are some of the big ones right now for me," Wete said. "All of those coaches have done a great job reaching out to me.

"I went to Penn State’s game against Michigan," he said. "In the summertime I went to Virginia Tech and Penn State with some of my teammates. My focus on college stuff is going to come after the season.

"A lot of schools like Georgia, USC, and Michigan are farther from home and harder to get to, especially during the season," said Wete. "I’ll try to take some trips in the offseason. I went to the Penn State game because it was closer and not as hard to get to."

RIVALS' REACTION…

Wete has shown early interest in Penn State and Virginia Tech but he will do his research. Expect him to check out a lot of campuses and try to commit at some point before his senior season. Schools that use hybrid edge rushers should move towards the top of Wete's wish list as time goes on.
