The latest with 2016 R250 RB Washington

Running back Robert Washington has been drawing offers and attention from many of the nation's top programs. The 2016 Rivals250 star from Huntersville (N.C.) Southlake Christian Academy is getting more mail than he knows what to do with.
"Notre Dame is one of them and Tennessee is recruiting me pretty hard," said the 5-foot-10, 206-pound Washington. "I'm getting a whole bunch of mail from Florida and Ohio State, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Syracuse, TCU, UCLA, California and the in-state schools obviously

The most recent scholarship offer that Washington has received was from Connecticut. He knows a lot about the school and he visited it in July 2013.
"My family is from Connecticut," said Washington. "Everybody is from Connecticut, they just happened to move down and I was born down here. Seventy-five percent of my family still lives in Connecticut, so I grew up a UConn fan. That's the school I grew up liking and we used to grow up watching UConn basketball. I have a whole bunch of UConn stuff just from growing up as a fan."
Washington did say that he has a good relationship with the Connecticut coaching staff and he would like to visit that school again.
"They have a brand new coaching staff," he said. "I used to have a relationship with Kermit Buggs, the old running back coach at UConn. I am a building relationship with all of the coaches up there because they're new a coaching staff, which makes it really hard on 2016 recruiting and calling some recruits. I would love to spend some more time with the new coaching staff, just to get to know them better."
Washington attended the Rivals250 Underclassmen Challenge presented by Under Armour during the offseason and he was able to visit Florida on July 14. He does have some additional schools that he is planning to visit within the next few months.
"For my bye week, I might get up to North Carolina when they play Virginia Tech. That's a big game," he said. "I'm trying to get up to Syracuse for the Florida State game. I'm setting up some more visits like Florida, Ohio State and some places like that to get down there."
The list of schools that have offered Washington a scholarship could increase in the near future. He said that he has been talking to the LSU coaching staff lately, including Les Miles.
"LSU will probably offer me a scholarship next, I have been talking with coach Frank Wilson a lot lately," Washington said. "I have been getting a lot of mail from there and he gave me his card and his number. Les Miles sent me some mail as well just telling me to call him and get in contact, so they can recruit me."
The recent interest from LSU could be attributed to the statistics Washington has produced through four games. He said that through four games, he has 108 carries for 825 yards, seven rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and at least 200 receiving yards. A commitment could come as early as the spring.
