The latest w/ 2016 R250 RB Washington

The recruitment of 2016 Rivals250 running back Robert Washington has hit another gear lately. The Huntersville (N.C.) Southlake Christian Academy star has added offers from Virginia Tech, Maryland and Rutgers.
"Coach Beamer sent me a message on Twitter and he told me to call him," said the 5-foot-10, 206-pound Washington. "When I called him, he told me about the scholarship offer. It was surprising and it was a great offer because I know a lot of kids around the state commit to Virginia Tech. It was just a great offer and coach Beamer told me he came down to the school three days before he offered me. It took me by surprise.

"My first reaction to the Maryland offer was like wow because that's a big time offer," he said. "Just to know that they have interest in me is a blessing as a whole. I had been talking with Dwayne Haskins and he actually talked to coach Dunn for me a little bit. The coach offered me and it means so much to me. When he offered me, I was so surprised and shocked. I went up there before, but I have not heard from them for a while so it took me by surprise. It was definitely a blessing and it is a definitely school I will look at.
"They run the football a lot at Rutgers and I did watch Dontea Ayers play there," Washington said. "He committed to Rutgers a while ago. I have always watched Rutgers football and they run the ball. As a running back, what more can you ask for. I can look at this school and they run the football there. They are one of the best in country at running the football."
Washington does not have any favorite schools at this time. He has been talking to Ohio State, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Connecticut the most lately but took visits to Blacksburg and Columbus last weekend.
"When we first got to Ohio State there were screaming fans," he said. "It was packed and everybody was there. It's a crazy rivalry, screaming and everybody's screaming and everybody's in a seat. At halftime, we got a chance to go on the field and go back up to the recruiting room. We just sat there and I talked to a couple of my friends like Jared Mayden. We were talking to a couple of recruits then we went back down and watched the rest of the game.
"After the game, we went back on the field and we got a chance to go to the locker room. Coach Urban Meyer talked to the team and told them to get ready for the Big Ten Championship Game," said Washington. "After that we got a chance to walk around the locker room and talk to coach Drayton. He introduced me to Ezekiel Elliott and all of his other running back. Ezekiel Elliott had an amazing game that game. I got a chance to talk to coach Herman and coach Johnson and I got a chance to catch up with them. Coach Herman introduced me to his wife and I was explaining to him my interest in Ohio State.
"At Virginia Tech, when I was on the field, I talked to the younger coach Beamer," he said. "It's a rivalry game, so they really can't talk because they got the game going on the field. We watched the game and it was freezing cold but they played well. Virginia played well too, but I thought they had a couple of injuries at running back. Later I went around but I didn't get a chance to talk to coach because they were talking to the team and it's a rivalry game so it's kind of hard to get a chance to talk to them."
Washington amassed 2233 yards on 239 carries scoring 27 touchdowns and made 11 catches for 202 yards and three touchdowns.
