The latest w/ 2016 R100 TE Brooks

Rivals100 tight end Devante Brooks has been out rehabbing his torn ACL since late summer but that has given the junior from Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High plenty of time to get a good grasp on his recruitment.
"Things are going well with recruiting," said the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Brooks. "I keep in contact with multiple coaches. Coach Elder from Tennessee, coach Moorehead from Virginia Tech, coach Edsall from Maryland, coach Mallory from Michigan and coach White from Iowa are just a couple of them."

Some might call these his standouts but Brooks isn't prepared to do that just yet.
"I don't have a top four or anything any of that," he said. "I'm waiting to do that until probably midway through my senior year. I have some top schools that I'm keeping to myself. I don't want everything to get out there and then things get out of hand."
Each of these schools has made an impression on Brooks.
"Coach Edsall and I have only been talking for a little while but it's more about it was wishing each other good luck in our next game," said Brooks "He's invited me to several games now and I'm hoping I'm hoping to get to the game this weekend against Michigan State but I'm not sure yet. I'm hoping to see how well Maryland can do against Michigan State and the rest of the Big Ten and we'll go from there. Of course, I want to be close from home but it doesn't have to be right next-door.
"I'm hoping to get to the Virginia Tech game against Virginia later this month," said Brooks. "Things are going very well with Virginia Tech. I can tell they're using their tight ends and I really enjoyed the game I went to against Georgia Tech.
"I can definitely tell Tennessee is on the rise," he said. "I've been looking at some of their commits on Twitter and it looks very promising. I've already seen one of their games this year but hopefully I can go back for a SEC game. Coach Elder and I keep in frequent contact. I think I'm in touch with him the most. I'm in touch with coach Jones sometimes also. He told me he hopes to see me down there for the Kentucky game.
"This season isn't the season that Michigan fans were hoping for but it's still a promising program," Brooks said. "They have a lot to offer for next year because this year was just a bad team. We'll have to see what goes on there next year.
"I don't know much about the Iowa program but I'm hoping to learn more about it," he said. "One of my teammates went there and I definitely want to see what they have to offer."
Brooks did not play this season after tearing his ACL at a college camp over the summer.
