The Fab Five California QBs

Dennis Dixon (6-4, 180, 4.7) from San Leandro, Calif., has proven his mettle with impressive performances at the combines this past spring and his stock took the predicted climb. UCLA, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, USC, Colorado, Kansas State, Oklahoma and LSU have offered this talented California gunslinger.

“There are no clear-cut favorites at this time,” he said in a recent interview with BruinBlitz.com. “I want keep my options open.”

Dixon is also a top-notch baseball player and he is getting looks in that sport from major league baseball teams as well as colleges.

Tommy Grady (6-6, 215, 4.9) from Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison is also being recruited by teams from coast-to-coast. UCLA, Oklahoma, Miami, FSU, Tennessee, LSU, USC and Washington have all offered him and he’s pretty set on looking at a few teams early.

“After the Elite 11 Camp, I’m going to take unofficial trips to Miami, Florida State and Oklahoma,” he said recently. “I’m going to Florida to check out the teams and the weather. If I like one of those schools, I’ll probably commit right away. If I don’t, then I’ll take some official visits after the football season."

Hold on tight college football fans if Grady commits at the end of the month or in early August that would make two of our top five already committed.

Sam Keller (6-4, 210, 4.8) from San Ramon (Calif.) San Ramon Valley made Michigan Wolverine fans happy when he committed to Big Blue over Notre Dame, ASU, Illinois and Kansas State.

The Wolverines get a quarterback who has all the intangibles to be a big time player. Keller has the competitive nature that you love to see in a quarterback.

Add that with his arm and you have the making of a big time quarterback.

Keller’s position coach will be Scott Loeffler, who Brian Griese (Denver) and Tom Brady (New England) give credit for their development.

Richard Kovalcheck (6-2, 205, 4.8) from San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine has seen his stock sky rocket since we first profiled him in February. Kovalcheck now has offers from San Diego State, Oregon State, Arizona, ASU, Boston College, Texas A&M, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan State, UCLA and Washington.

Kovalcheck said he hasn’t really narrowed down his favorites, but he did add that he likes USC, Stanford, Arizona, Notre Dame, ASU Washington and Colorado.

The question to ask about Kyle Wright (6-4, 200, 4.7) from Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista is – who hasn’t offered this talented signal caller?

Wright’s current top three teams are Miami, Texas and USC. FSU, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are also in the race but are behind the Canes, Horns and Troy.

Wright will head back East after he participates in the Elite 11 quarterback camp at the end of the month. He is scheduled to take unofficial visits to Miami, FSU, Tennessee and Texas. Wright would also like to fit in Notre Dame and Oklahoma if possible.

Wright may be another stellar quarterback to an early decision. He could make one as soon as August or early September.
