The Cardinal land good one

The Stanford Cardinal recently picked up the verbal commitment from a very talented football player in defensive end Matt Kopa (6-6, 265, 4.97) from Elk Grove, Calif. Though Kopa is a standout on both sides of the ball, he projects as a defensive end for the Cardinal.
The Cardinal picked up a player who was selected second-team all-city and first-team all-league as a junior.

Like all Cardinal recruits, Kopa is an outstanding student.
“Matt is excellent in the classroom,” Elk Grove head coach Dave Hoskins said. “He has never had a B, Matt is a straight A student.”
Kopa has huge upside and the Cardinal are going to be the lucky team that reaps the benefits.
“Matt has a very large wingspan,” Hoskins said. “He has good lateral movement and is very athletic for his size.”
“Matt is a hard worker,” Hoskins said. “He’s very good in the weighroom.”
“Matt is very instinctive,” Hoskins said. “He’s a natural defensive end. Matt does a great job taking on offensive tackles.”
The Cardinal gets a good player in Kopa.
