Thacker going big time

Sanford (Fla.) Seminole defensive end Doug Thacker was a mere blip on the recruiting radar. Now he continues to move up the charts and is picking up an impressive list of offers, which is likely to grow.
"I have gotten calls from Florida State, Miami, West Virginia, Toldeo, Auburn, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Connecticut, Florida, Oklahoma and a few others," Thacker said. "Maryland has offered me now. Virginia Tech told me that they didn't offer anyone without meeting them in person, but they said if I would come up to a game they would offer. Florida State verbally offered me and told me that if I came up to a game that they would do it in person."

The 6-foot-2.5, 245-pound Thacker attended the Tallahassee NIKE camp where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds, the shuttle in 4.19 seconds, posted a 24-inch vertical jump and did 45 reps on the bench press.
"Florida State is my No. 1 school right now and Virginia Tech is right behind them," the No. 45 rated strongside defensive end said. "I really want to go to Florida State. I've been looking at them for a long time. Miami, West Virginia and Maryland are also schools that I am looking at."
Through two games so far this season Thacker has racked up 12 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack, though he's disappointed his team is off to an 0-2 start.
"I definitely want to take my visits before I make a decision," Thacker said. "I really don't plan on committing anywhere until I take some official visits. I am going to the Florida State-Syracuse game, the Virginia Tech-Boston College game and maybe the Florida State-Florida and Florida State-Maryland games."
