Texas WR ready to shine

Corpus Christi (Texas) Carroll wide receiver Dior Gipson may be one of the top receivers in the Lone Star state, but the offensive scheme has prevented many people in seeing his talents.
Coach Terry Morris has utilized Gipson as more of a blocking receiver ever since he earned a starting position as a freshman. However, his talents may really be ready to shine when Morris makes some adjustments to his playbook this season and gets his senior playmaker involved.

"One thing is for sure and that is he is a sure fire Division I athlete," Morris said about Gipson. "Certainty he'll showcase his talents as a senior. We have been a 75 to 25 rushing team in the past."
"This season we'll probably be closer to 50-50, where he has a chance to showcase his skills."
Though film of his receiving skills may be sparse, what film has gone out has raised some eyebrows. The potential is there and schools such as Iowa, TCU, Purdue, Texas A&M, and others are taking notice.
The one thing that Gipson must do to start raking in the offers is continue to work hard not only on the field, but off as well.
"The kid is starting to do some good things," Morris said. "Now he's starting that hard work in the classroom that needs to be done."
According to Gipson, he is open to anyone who sees his overall potential and gives him a stage to shine on.
"I really haven't played to my full potential because I know I'm a better athlete than what I've shown these last three years," Gipson said. "If anybody asks, I say come watch my senior year because I'm giving it everything I've got."
"This past year wasn't my year. My goal is just to catch the ball and make things happen."
Getting out of state may be one of his big factors in his final decision.
"I'm not against staying in Texas, but I kind of want to get out," he said. "Iowa has been sending me a lot of stuff and I watched Oklahoma State and Nebraska a lot growing up."
"I've received mail from Arizona, Utah, Duke, Arizona State, and a lot of others so there seems to be a lot of interest."
Gipson is working hard to succeed in his last season of high school football but taking the time to make sure his grades improve before he takes a stab at the next level. His final run this fall should be an exciting one to watch.
