Texas WR ready to play

South Garland wide receiver John Turner hasn't had the senior year start that he was looking for but that won't keep him down for too long.
The speed receiver dislocated his thumb in a scrimmage and was forced to miss the first two weeks. Now, the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder is ready to come back this week and get his name out there. Helping his team though is the most important thing to Turner.

"Well, we're 0-2 right now and we've got a big game coming up this week against South Grand Prairie," Turner said. "I do feel we're getting better and I'm ready to do what I can this week."
Turner says little has changed on the recruiting front. He still holds offers from Kansas State, Indiana, and Missouri. Other schools may be close to pulling the trigger on an offer.
"I'm still looking at Kansas State, Missouri and Indiana hard," Turner said. "Central Florida and UNLV are showing some interest. Oklahoma State is talking about doing something with an offer maybe."
Turner was actually planning to decide within the next few weeks, but has changed his initial strategy.
"I decided that's not what's best for me," he said about deciding now. "I'm probably going to wait until later in the year."
