Texas WR impresses at LSU

There was a star-studded cast at the recent LSU prospect camp in Baton Rouge, La. However, amid all of the four-stars, five-stars, SEC commits and more, a prospect with a modest offer list was one of the top performers. Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie wide receiver Will Adams had an outstanding performance, just as he has had throughout the camp circuit. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound target won the wide receiver MVP award and had a great time on the campus of the Tigers.

"I had a great time down there at LSU," Adams said. "I talked to Coach McCarthey and got to know a few things about LSU. I hung out with Ron Brooks and he told me about the place and how the coaches are."

Adams's strong performance during his time on campus may have sparked some interest from the Tiger staff.

"Coach McCarthey said he was really excited about me," he said. "He wanted me to get my first three high school games to him and we'd go from there. He said I had great feet, run great routes and have great hands. He said I was an excellent player and he looks forward to seeing me more."

Currently, Adams holds offers from Louisiana-Monroe, UCF and Air Force but he is gaining heavy interest from Missouri, Texas A&M and Michigan State.

This summer, Adams has been terrific at camps. He has consistently been one of the toughest players to defend in man coverage. He runs great routes and has good quick feet. Adams feels all of his hard work is starting to pay off.

"I got myself really out there this summer," he said. "A lot of people are starting to know me. Coaches are starting to talk to me a lot and know who I am."

The fall football season is virtually upon Adams and his teammates at South Grand Prairie high school and if his teams' talent is any indication, there will be a lot of wins in store.

"We've got at least 10 division one players on our squad right now," he said. "We're looking to have a good team. Our senior leadership is really there. We've got a new quarterback right now. He's been working hard on his arm strength."

During the season, Adams will be focusing on recruiting along with his team and he has discussed official visits with both LSU and Oklahoma.

"Right now I'm going to wait until like mid-season (to make a decision)," he said. "If LSU offers, I'm looking real hard at them. I'm going to take visits for sure to Oklahoma and LSU."
