Position: Wide Receiver
Size and Speed: Ogbonnaya is 6-foot-1 and 200-pounds. He has been timed at 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Statistics: During his junior season, Ogbonnaya caught 22 passes for 527 yards and seven touchdowns.
Favorite Schools: Ogbonnaya has a written scholarship offer from LSU. He also has verbal offers from Oklahoma, Stanford and Texas. Northwestern and Notre Dame are showing more interest of late too.
Skinny: Ogbannaya's numbers might not rank him as one of the top wide receivers in the Lone Star State, but his athletic ability is not being lost when college scouts see him in action.
"Chris is being recruited mostly as a wide receiver," Ogbannaya's father Kalu said. "Most of the schools like him there and realize he plays in an offense that isn't a great one for throwing the ball. Some of the schools have said a shot at tail back or running back could be possible."
While LSU is the only school to have placed a written scholarship offer in front of Ogbannaya, several other schools have been involved about as long.
"LSU, Oklahoma, Stanford and Texas are the four who have been there the longest," the elder Ogbannaya said. "LSU was one of the first to call. The others have been there too. In the end, we will definitely give strong considerations to those schools who have offered early on as opposed to a school that jumps in late."
One school that has just entered the mix is Northwestern.
"Northwestern saw some film of Chris from last fall. They sent asking for some more so they could see more. The head coach wants to see more and then they will probably offer a scholarship."
Despite the opportunities to choose a school now, Ogbannaya won't make a quick choice.
"We're not looking to make a quick decision," Ogbannaya's father said. "We'll take our time and look at all of our options."
