Texas WR headed to ACC

Football isn't the only thing that Houston (Texas) Langham Creek wide receiver Tyler Melton is concerned with. Melton had his sights set on academics when he made his commitment this past weekend.
The 6-foot, 182-pounder had been picking up offers from the likes of Louisiana Tech, Rice, Iowa State, and Air Force, but after a solid camp at one particular school in June, one specific offer came that he couldn't turn down.

"I committed to Georgia Tech, actually I did it yesterday," Melton said. "The big thing for me was academics and how they're ranked fourth in the nation for engineering. That was a big key for me. I really like the football program, the coaching staff as well, but academics is really a big part of my life.
"I also have family in Atlanta. My brother lives out there, so that was another part of my decision."
Melton went to the Georgia Tech camp and did very well there. Just two weeks after attending, the offer came to his door.
"I found out about the offer and decided to do it," Melton said. "It's a solid commitment. Plus, I'm taking a summer course right now that has me eligible to be there for spring ball. It's a big relief; I don't have to worry about any stuff anymore."
Melton was recruited by Georgia Tech coach Curtis Modkins.
