Texas WR has one offer, taking trips

North Mesquite (Texas) receiver LaNear Sampson holds one scholarship offer but appears to be inching closer to more as he makes his way on some visits.
The 6-foot, 192-pounder has recently added his first offer from Duke. He says that schools like Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Illinois, Oklahoma State, and Virginia are also showing a lot of interest. Sampson also recently returned from his second unofficial visit to the state of Oklahoma this past weekend.

"I went to the Oklahoma State junior day a few weeks ago and then I just went to Oklahoma this past weekend," Sampson said. "It went pretty good. The coaches just talked to me about the program and everything. They didn't mention anything about an offer."
Sampson says that he grew up a fan of Oklahoma, but Oklahoma State was also impressive.
"Oklahoma, that's like my favorite football school," Sampson said. "I really liked Oklahoma State too. I was really impressed with them. I've been down there a couple of times. But, Oklahoma is the team I grew up watching."
Sampson doesn't have any other plays for unofficial visits with track season in full swing.
"I'm trying to do both (visits and track), but I don't have any firm schedules yet," he said.
Judging by how hard teams are recruiting, Sampson says that Illinois and Wisconsin could be close to offering.
