Texas WR has blue-chip blood in family

Some player’s fathers might have been high school all stars. Some might even have played a little college ball. But it’s doubtful that many recruits' fathers have experienced the success in sports like Michael Malone, a standout receiver from Friendswood, Texas.
Yep, Malone as in Moses Malone.
"Yeah I think he wishes I focused more on basketball," Malone said. "He understands, that I like football and that is what I want to play."

At 6-foot-5, his basketball height is very helpful while playing receiver.

"I use my size, but also have been working a lot on my speed," he said. "(Quarterback) Jeff (Ballard) and I have been getting up every morning at 8 a.m. and driving to Houston to work on speed training."

Is Malone looking to travel to play college football?

"I really like LSU,” he said. “I don’t have an offer yet, but I am going on an unofficial visit later this week. So we will see what happens. Maybe I will get one, and who knows what might happen."

Malone is still looking around in case the Tigers don’t work out, though.

"I also am looking at UCLA,” he said. “Playing out west would be cool. As far as in-state, I’m also giving Texas a look."

Malone has offers from Michigan State and Northwestern.
