Texas WR closing in on record

Wylie, Texas wide receiver Chris Ross is within a few receptions of setting a Texas high school record.
"Chris is at 120 receptions through seven games," Ross' grandfather Ronnie Smith said. "He has 62 this year. The record is 123 catches in a career."

Wylie is just seven games into the season and Ross has accumulated 878 yards receiving on the year.
"So far the schools that have called for Chris include Alabama, Oklahoma State, TCU, SMU, Wisconsin and Texas A&M," Smith said.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder's talents aren't limited to just playing wide receiver either.
"Chris lines up at safety on defense and also handles the punt returns. Most of his time on defense comes in long yardage situations."
