Texas TE getting his name out there

In a year where the tight end position is loaded across the country in terms of talent, Prosper, Texas prospect Taylor Thompson is adding his name to the list.
At 6-foot-6, 231 pounds, Thompson is currently involved in numerous events in track during the off-season and placing very well in the triple jump and high jump. As for recruiting, Thompson waits on his first scholarship offer to arrive but is receiving mail from all over.
"Oklahoma State has been sending a lot lately, also TCU, Michigan, Duke, and Florida," Thompson said. "I got a text today from the Utah coach and a text last week from Wake Forest. They haven't really talked about offers, but they want to see more of me and find out more about me."
Thompson was an all-district selection on both sides of the ball for play at tight end and defensive end. Running a spread offense, Thompson says he is more of a big receiver at the high school level.
"I'd say I'm pretty fast and versatile," Thompson said. "I've got pretty good hands and my 40 time is pretty good too."
Thompson says he's unsure of where he'll visit in the coming weeks and months. There aren't any favorites out there for him at the next level.
"I'm trying to keep my options open," Thompson said. "I'm not going to know for sure where I'll visit until closer to summer time. Academics are going to play a big role for me. Also, I want to see where the school is located and make sure I like the coaches so I click well in the program."
Thompson had 22 receptions for around 375 yards and a touchdown as a junior.
Off-season – Just trying to work out at least everyday and I'm doing track too. I'm doing the triple jump, high jump, 100, 200, and 4X2. Best event – I won triple jump last week and I've won high jump twice.
