Texas safety taking SEC visits

Stephenville, Texas safety Cody Davis had quite a rush of scholarship offers over the last few weeks.
Davis, the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, has now added quite the collection of offers. Baylor, Duke, Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and SMU are the schools to have thrown their hat into the mix. Other schools such as Alabama and Oklahoma State have yet to offer, but Davis is getting significant interest.

"Here in the next two weeks I think I'm going to go visit Alabama and Ole Miss," Davis said. "I'm going to take an unofficial visit next week before Easter weekend to check out both schools back-to-back."
Davis says both schools are ones that he's excited to see up close.
"With Ole Miss, having Jevan (Snead) there is always nice and they're one of the bigger and nicer schools out there," Davis said. "So I want to go check it out and see how things run there.
"I first heard from Alabama about three or four weeks ago. Major Applewhite contacted my coach and they've been talking. I just want to go look and see what it's all about in the SEC."
There will also be options for Davis with positions. He says that some schools like him at safety and others have talked about outside linebacker. Davis says he's open to any positions.
He also has a teammate, Kody Spano, committed to Oklahoma State. Davis says that the Cowboys haven't offered, but he's been there for an unofficial visit and Spano continues to talk up OSU to his teammate.
"I went up to Oklahoma State to visit unofficially and look around," Davis said. "They haven't talked much about an offer. I talked to their new defensive coordinator that just moved there and he says right now, they're just trying to settle in. He's evaluating me."
Davis says he doesn't have any favorites yet. In the off-season, he's staying busy as well with spring football right around the corner.
"We have our football workouts and after school we have track," he said. "We also are getting up in the morning and lifting before school."
