Texas safety performs well at camp

Denton (Texas) Ryan safety Ishie Oduegwu took in his first football camp of the summer this week and has come away with a list of this top five schools.
“Wednesday was the last day of the K-State camp,” the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Oduegwu said. “I think they were really impressed with me. I felt like I played really well and did the things they had us doing as good as anyone there.

“Coach (Bob) Elliott really liked me and said he really wanted me. He is their defensive coordinator and the defensive backs coach. I think they are going to offer me. I’m still in Manhattan. I haven’t even left yet, but will be soon. I also have the Texas camp June 13 that I will be going to.”
Oduegwu’s top five this early in the summer includes the Wildcats and his in-state favorite school.
“My top five schools are Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Miami and LSU,” he said. “Texas is my favorite team. I have always liked them.”
Oduegwu had early scholarship offers from LSU, Texas Tech and Missouri. He also feels confident the Longhorns will be added to that list soon.
“I think Texas has offered,” he said. “My teammate, Xavier Kelley got a call and his was on the way. If he got one, I will be soon if mine isn’t there when I get home.”
