Texas safety is high on four schools

Lancaster (Texas) High School defensive back Quentin Hayes has already built an impressive offer list with much of the Big 12 already showing significant interest, several of which have extended offers. A couple of weeks ago, Hayes picked up his sixth Big 12 offer.
"The latest offer I know of is Nebraska," Hayes said. "It came about two and a half weeks ago. I know a little about them. I knew it was coming because they were recruiting me a lot and sending me a lot of mail. I was kind of expecting it from talking to them."

Most of the communication with the Nebraska staff has been with Coach Tim Beck over email. Those conversations have gone well but Nebraska still has some ground to make up with the physical safety.
"He's pretty cool," he said of Coach Beck. "I can tell he really wants me to come there. He thinks Nebraska is a great place to come to. I'm kind of interested in Nebraska but not very high. I'm kind of being open right now."
Hayes does have a few schools that he knows are at the top of his list. Two of those schools have yet to extend an offer.
"I'm really really interested in Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech," he said. "Oklahoma and Texas haven't offered. I really hope they do."
The four schools all have something in common that Hayes is looking for.
"They're all Big 12 schools, they're close and they're pretty good teams. They're in the running for national championships and in bowl games every year."
Hayes has been to and enjoyed junior days at both Texas and Oklahoma State. He plans on visiting Oklahoma State again and would also like to get on the campus at Texas Tech as well for a visit.
