Texas running back getting his name out

Rockwall (Texas) Heath running back Kendial Lawrence is versatile and quick at 5-foot-9, 182 pounds. He is part of a talented team at Rockwall Heath and is expected to be a big factor in the 2008 season.
"I think I've got good vision," Lawrence said. "I'm good at seeing the field. I think I have good agility and my quickness, making a move. I really like just scoring touchdowns and making the defense look bad."

In 2007, Lawrence did a lot of scoring touchdowns and he made quite a few defenders look bad as well. As a junior, he rushed for over 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground alone. In response to that, he has several schools talking to him and two offers in.
"I've got an offer from Kansas and an offer from Buffalo," he said. "I like Kansas. It's pretty cool. Buffalo, I haven't really talked to the coach a lot so I don't really know the coach.
"There's a couple more schools that are interested. Georgia Tech and Louisville, they're saying the same thing that they want to evaluate me through the spring before they make an offer."
Since the college coaches have been let loose on the phones, Lawrence has been busy answering a number of calls. He has received phone calls from Louisville, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Buffalo, Nebraska and Central Arkansas.
So what is Lawrence looking for from all of these interested programs?
"Really just somewhere that I can get a good education and play early and showcase my skills."
Lawrence plans on visiting a few campuses and attending a few camps during the summer and continuing to get his name out.
"I'm going to go to Kansas as soon as I can," he said. "I've been pretty busy lately with practice and school. Georgia Tech wants me to go to camp and Louisville wants me to go to their camp. I want to go to some camps to get my name out there. No one really knows about me yet."
