Texas RB taking things slow

The first scholarship offer came early for Rosenberg (Texas) Lamar Consolidated running back Jacquizz Rodgers but the next one may be on the way.
Rodgers, the 5-foot-6, 180-pounder, says that Illinois has been a new school to join the mix of programs showing interest along with others like Kansas State. Rodgers says that he's taking it slow and working through a busy track schedule.

"I haven't taken any trips, no sir, not lately anyways," Rodgers said. "Illinois has been talking to me though. They just want to see some of my tape and that's been about it right now."
Rodgers said that he was planning on showing his skills again at the NIKE Training Camp this year, but a regional track meet on that weekend will keep him busy.
He's also not ready to name any favorite schools yet.
"I'm just really looking at the main colleges that are recruiting me like Kansas State and places like that," Rodgers said. "I'm going to wait until I get all of my offers and then go from there."
As a senior, Rodgers is also looking to help his team in any way he can.
"I'm just trying to work on leading my team better," he said. "Also I just want to have an even better season than last year."
