Texas RB not secretive about favorite

Newton (Texas) all-purpose back Toddrick Pendland was a virtual unknown on the recruiting radar of fans and coaches but his highlight film and stats speak for themselves. That has put the 5-foot-9, 165-pound runner on the map and his recruiting is taking shape.
Offers have been in hand for some time from Houston, Memphis, Tulane, and UTEP but Stephen F. Austin, Kansas State, and others are also in hot pursuit. His leader, however, has been pretty clear so far.

"Memphis is still at the top for me," Pendland said. "I mean, they're running game is great. I really don't mind coming out of the backfield for the pass, but you've got to have that run for me to really be interested and they've got my attention."
He hasn't thought about visits and that's because his high school football season has taken the spotlight. Undefeated with three wins under their belt, Newton is set to take on West Orange (Texas) Stark High School armed with standout athlete and Texas commit Deon Beasley.
"They've got a good running back, good receivers, and a lot of talented guys out there," Pendland said about Stark. "We've got a lot of weapons, we just have to continue to use those weapons."
"You could say I'm one of those."
Visits are what's up next and Pendland is starting to think which schools he'd like to see.
"I really haven't planned them out," he said. "Coaches have told me to come on down for any weekend I want, but I haven't set anything up just yet."
