Texas RB improving game, himself

If you ask high school coaches in the Houston area who the top running back is, the name that comes up the most often seems to be Sugar Land (Texas) Kempner three-star standout Michael Rutledge. But for some reason the college coaches haven’t been as excited, but Rutledge is hoping to change all that.
“I went to the TCU and Texas A&M camps this summer and did really well at both of them,” he said. “The TCU one was here in town and I ran a 4.3-second shuttle time for them. The TCU coaches all talked to me, and so did the A&M coaches. I don’t have any offers, though.

“But I’m not going to let that get me down. I’m going to focus hard on getting strong and faster.”
And it’s paid off. Measured at 5-foot-10 and 174 pounds at the Rivals100 Junior Day, Rutledge is now up to 180 pounds. He’s also lowered his 40-yard dash time to 4.54 seconds and the best shuttle time he ran was at A&M with a 4.25-second time.”
But the Aggies and Horned Frogs aren’t the only ones after him at this point.
Rutledge said Arizona, Wisconsin and Illinois are also writing hand-written letters regularly.
“I’m still kind of open, but I really like what I’m hearing from Arizona and TCU,” he said. “I’m pretty excited about the atmosphere at Arizona. The coaches seem to be really nice and they have a lot of kids from Houston there. TCU is a program on the rise.”
