Texas RB has first offers, favorites

Tyler (Texas) Lee running back Jamal Mitchell is on the board with his first scholarship offers and he has a couple of favorites as well.
Mitchell, the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder, said that things have really surged in terms of recruiting over the last few weeks. As a junior, he rushed for around 750 yards at the fullback position. Recently, things have been moving quick as he picked up offers in the mail from Colorado, Kansas State, SMU, and TCU already. Other schools such as Illinois are saying an offer could be coming as well.

"It just came out of the blue," Mitchell said. "I didn't expect this at all. It all happened over the course of these two weeks. I'm excited."
Two in-state schools have emerged for Mitchell.
"It's looking like SMU and TCU right now," Mitchell said about leaders. "I've been to SMU twice and I like their campus. It's a pretty good atmosphere there. I'm going up there (TCU) on the 20th. I want to get there and see what it's like and what's going on there. (Tekerrein) Cuba wants me to come up there."
Regardless of early favorites, the rising prospect says that he'll more than likely wait until after his senior season to make a commitment.
"I want to play my senior year before I make a decision," he said. "I'm going to wait a while because I want to get my senior season out of the way and then narrow it down."
