Texas RB drawing a lot of attention

Klein, Texas running back Jared Hawkins has been busy sending out film for college coaches.
“We have been sending out film to schools lately,” Jared’s father, Jeff, said. “We had two more requests come today for film.”

The schools requesting film include Wake Forest, Illinois, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, TCU, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Colorado, Notre Dame, Iowa and LSU.
“He’s been getting quite a bit of mail,” the elder Hawkins said. “But, right now, he doesn’t have a real favorite school. He’s really pretty open to this whole process.
“The school he chooses does not necessarily have to be in the state. He wants to get a good education and find a good fit for him where he can play.”
As a junior, the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder rushed for 1,132 yards and 13 touchdowns while seeing action in only seven games.
“He got hurt and missed a couple games,” Jeff Hawkins said of his son. “But, he came back. He’s back and going full-speed still.”
Hawkins is working on his speed in the spring track program already.
“He was timed at 10.8 in the 100-meter, so he’s getting faster. He’s been timed at 4.50 in the 40. He’ll work hard to get better through the spring and the summer.”
