Texas quarterback has doubled his offers

Johnson City, Texas quarterback Kris Heavner, who previously had a scholarship offer from Oklahoma State, now has an additional one from New Mexico.
However, one other school is in the lead for his commitment.

"If I had to commit today, it would be to Texas Tech," he said about a choice right now. "I liked Oklahoma State a lot and they really caught my eye, but the distance was a drawback."
The 6-foot-3, 215 pound Heavner said the following about his recent summer camp visit to Texas: "I liked it a lot, but I didn't have a good day. There was a lot of scattered showers and delays, so you couldn't get a rhythm going."
More offers and summer camps might be in his plans.
"TCU, Baylor and Texas A&M have all said, if I come to their camp," he said, "they'll make an offer then."
As a junior Heavner had 1,705 yards passing for 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. He rushed for an additional 297 yards. He made first-team all-district as a quarterback and second-team all-district as a cornerback.
Even though he favors a college football career, he might have to consider baseball.
"I may get drafted for baseball," he said. "The (Cleveland) Indians and (Texas) Rangers have both invited me for a tryout and Stanford is recruiting me for both baseball and football. If it comes down to a choice, the football will take precedence."
