Texas QB staying in-state

The offer count just kept rising for Allen, Texas quarterback Nathan Dick but that didn't stop him from making a summer decision.
Earlier on in the year, the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder took a trip to Rice. This past weekend, Dick was invited to come back down for a camp. On the way down, the talented Lone Star prospect had his mind made up.

"I committed to Rice when I got there," Dick said. "I knew I wanted to commit. I just wanted to go to their camp and see them in person. I told them that was the reason I came down to decide. They were all excited and the coaches were jumping up and down."
Dick says that being recruited by wide receivers coach David Beaty and quarterbacks coach Major Applewhite was a big part of the reason.
"I don't think I could have found a better quarterback coach than coach Applewhite," Dick said. "They've got a new coaching staff that's going to have a new spread offense. That would fit me perfect for what I do. Everything about it is great."
Dick says he had picked up offers over the last month from Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, SMU, and Tulsa over the past few weeks. SMU was the only other school Dick visited before making his decision.
Though more offers may still come to his doorstep, Dick says that he's set on Rice.
"It's a good, solid commitment right now," Dick said. "I don't really see myself changing that."
