Texas QB plans busy summer

Bedford (Texas) L.D. Bell quarterback Joe Mauro continues to wait for his first scholarship offer, but he will put his skills on display this summer many times.
"I am planning on going to a bunch of camps in June," the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Mauro said. "I don't have all of them finalized, but I'm thinking about Houston, Texas A&M, SMU, Tulsa, Utah, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and possibly Kansas State and Arkansas. I'll see if they all will work on the calendar."

Several schools have been in touch with Mauro this month, including SMU coach Joe Sawyer earlier today.
"Coach Sawyer from SMU called tonight," he said. "He was just checking to make sure everything is going okay and to see if I was still planning on their camp. I'm looking forward to going to all of them camps and getting done with school."
Mauro and his teammates will end spring practices this week.
"Tuesday is our last full day of spring practice," Mauro said. "Then we will go half-days the rest of the week. I think the spring is going pretty good. We're putting in a new offense and we are getting into more of the fine tuning of the offense. Last year we were 80 percent running the ball, and if coach has his way we won't be running the ball much at all this season. It will be different."
