Texas QB making name for himself

Not every player has to have a successful junior season to be able to put up good numbers as a senior. Austin (Texas) Westwood quarterback Clint Bricker is proof of that.
“Clint didn’t really play as a junior,” Westwood assistant coach Paul Smith said. “He was on the team, but he didn’t get on the field. He played in the last game of the season after our senior was injured.”

That game action was just the beginning for the 6-foot, 196-pound signal caller.
“He has done really well for us this year,” Smith said. “He makes good decisions at the line and gets all of our players in the right places and makes all of the blocking assignment calls. He has thrown for over 2,100 yards this season on 371 attempts.”
In Westwood’s last game against Round Rock, Bricker completed 38-of-58 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for two scores. The performance this year has generated interest from three schools, Utah, New Mexico and North Texas, so far.
“He does not have any scholarship offers,” Smith said.
Smith said Bricker isn’t locked into any one school or any particular region of the country.
“Clint has told us he would like to play Division I-A football and will go anywhere in the country to do so.”
Westwood will play their final game of the season on Friday against Georgetown. They are 3-6 on the season.
