Butler, a three-star selection by Rivals100.com, has committed to play for the New Mexico Lobos. Butler’s family was very excited to hear the news because they have extended family that resides in Albuquerque.
“My mom has wanted me to go to New Mexico all along,” Butler said. “She’s extremely excited about my decision.”
The 6-2, 195-pound star quarterback decided to commit to the Lobos after taking an unofficial visit to the campus in early July. He was able to meet some of the coaches and said that he really liked them.
“I really liked their quarterbacks coach,” Butler said. “They also run a similar offense to the one that we are switching to this season. I just loved the atmosphere.”
Butler said that they have been working hard on getting ready to install the new offense all summer and it has really showed during the first week of practice.
“Everyone is looking real good and we are really coming together,” Butler said. “Everything is starting to click.”
Tye is coached by his father, Dwight Butler.
