Jeff Ballard from Friendswood High School in Texas was named as a nominee to the Eastern Texas Quarterback Club and as the Houston Chronicle Player Of The Week already once this season.
The 6-foot-1, 190 pound quarterback couldn't remember his completion to attempts numbers, but he knew that he had 847 yards for 10 touchdowns and one interception, as well as 30 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns.
Jeff has offers from Texas Christian and Iowa State. He is getting contact from Houston, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, West Virginia and Colorado.
He is setting up a visit to Texas Christian real soon, and no others are set up yet. He will made his decision probably in late December after his visits.
"TCU would have to be the favorite right now, as they are showing the most interest," Jeff said.
If he had to make his official visits, they would be to the following (his comments follow):
Texas Christian - "The quarterback coach is a nice guy and helpful in teaching things and the offensive philosophy is one I like."
Arkansas - "They are a passing team and I'd like to learn more about them.
Arizona - "Head coach John Mackovic and the style of play is an open offense."
Colorado - "They have an incredible campus, good offense and the recruiter is very positive in his recruiting, so I'd like to learn more about them."
West Virginia - "They are recruiting with a letter every other day and I'd like to learn more about them."
Jeff said of his strong points - "My scrambling ability and play making would be my strong points."
He describes himself as - "A pocket passer who can scramble."
The most impressive coach - "TCU quarterback coach, Louden Gray, who said he was going to recruit me right to the end and that I was the #1 quarterback prospect for TCU."
