It’s time to add another official quarterback visitor to the Tennessee official visit list. If things are worked out here this week, you can expect one of Texas’ top quarterbacks to be in Knoxville on December 12.
“I talked to coach (Phillip) Fulmer late last week,” said Houston Booker T. Washington dual-threat quarterback Joseph Fields. “He was telling me they really want me to come up for an official visit and when they’re there they would talk to me about a scholarship offer and let me know where I stand on their list.”
There is no doubt the Vols stand high on Fields’ (6-foot-1 and 214 pounds) list. Fields said he is planning on visiting UT on December 12. The three-star quarterback is also scheduled to visit Syracuse on December 5 and Wisconsin on December 19.
“I’m leaning toward Tennessee and Syracuse,” he said. “But I’m still taking it one day at a time and keeping all of my options open.”
Fields has helped his team to a 3-0 record in district play and this past weekend, he rushed for 145 yards on 15 carries. He also was three of six for 85 yards.
“We play Milby this weekend for our homecoming game,” Fields said. “It’s our homecoming game, and we’re going to do our best to beat them really big for the home crowd.”
Fields, ranked as the nation’s No. 17 dual-threat quarterback, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Missouri, Syracuse, Wisconsin and Houston. He said Missouri would likely be his fourth and likely final official visit.
