Texas QB likes UNT coach

Crosby, Texas quarterback Kellen Hayes has one solid scholarship offer and a couple other schools that are close to pulling the trigger with an offer.
“North Texas has offered him,” Larry Hayes, the father and coach of the 6-foot-1, 200-pound signal caller said. “That is a good situation. He’s been there for camps and to see the school. And we really like Coach (Darrell) Dickey. He’d be a fun guy to play for.

“He is one of the hot young coaches in America. We found an article that had the top young coaches in the country and Coach Dickey was No. 4 on the list. So the question for North Texas would be if he is going to be around? Other schools could be coming after him.”
Other schools pursuing the two-star athlete are Utah State, Princeton and Louisiana Tech.
“Utah State is close to offering,” the elder Hayes said. “They have told us that. Louisiana Tech is still calling. And that would have quit if they weren’t interested anymore. Princeton is his favorite among the Ivy League schools. Of course their offer means they can get you into the school.”
In Hayes’ first two games, he has shown his skills has both a runner and a passer. In week one, he threw for 252 yards on 19 completions while running for 58 yards on 11 carries. Last week, he ran for 88 yards on 18 carries and completed 27-of-40 passes for 268 yards.
