Texas OLB leaving state

Top outside linebacker, Jamar Williams bypassed the Big 12 schools that were recruiting him to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
"Well, I'm not going to be hearing from anybody else, as I committed to Duke yesterday," Williams said. " "I told all the other schools today."

The 6-foot-2, 210 pound linebacker from Langham Creek, Texas had offers from Texas A&M, Kansas State and Colorado from the Big 12 Conference plus Arizona State, Hawaii and seven others from the midlands area.
Jamar was recently named to the All-Houston Area first team and the All-District first team, along with being named as the top defensive player by the Houston Touchdown Club.
"When I made my visit there (Nov. 30), I liked the coaching staff and they seemed to want me more than anybody else. I want the Duke degree and I want to get out of Texas. Also, playing in the ACC and early playing time (were factors)."
