Texas OL getting focused on recruiting

New Braunfels (Texas) High School has ended its regular season and just missed out on a playoff appearance, closing the season 6-4. Offensive guard Marcus Stager spent the season staying focused on the task ahead of him and his team's season but now that the year is behind him, his focused has turned towards recruiting.
Stager currently holds offers from Rice, Army and New Mexico State. He also had been hearing from SMU and others but had lost contact with a few schools during the season.

"I've got two official offers from New Mexico State and West Point," Stager said. "I've been trying to keep in contact with them throughout the season but we kind of lost contact. Now that football is over I'm going to try to get recontacted with SMU. What I told some colleges is that I'm going to focus on my senior year and then talk more recruiting after."
To date, West Point has been the school that has been communicating most heavily with the offensive lineman but he hopes to re-establish communication with New Mexico State, SMU, Rice and others.
With the season behind him, Stager did not take much time to lick his wounds.
"The only break I did take was just that weekend after football ended," he said. "That Monday, I started working out and doing my own workout for weight lifting and running. Pretty much this year, I'm just going to do straight offseason football work. I used to do track but I want to focus just on football."
Though the season didn't extend as long as Stager and his teammates would have liked, it was still a strong effort by the program.
"We finished fifth in the district and they took the top four to playoffs," he said. "I think overall we did pretty well and we succeeded in playing as well as the town of New Braunfels thought that we would. People around here probably didn't think we would be as good as we were."
Stager hasn't set up any official visits yet but hopes to talk to Army and New Mexico State in particular as well as some other programs about that possibility.
