CEDAR HILL, Tex. -- Trying to decipher the direction that Rivals250 wide receiver Dylan Wright’s recruitment is starting to head towards that moment in a detective show where the investigation board is shown with yarn moving this way and that to make connections for a bigger conclusion.
Before the case is solved, the yarn has to be stretched to the next piece of the riddle: He’ll make a visit next weekend to Florida State, who’s new staff has shown a strong and recent interest in him this spring.
“I’ve been talking a lot with Coach (Mario) Edwards,” he said. “He’s been blowing me up, telling me ‘hey man, hey man, we gotta hit fast-forward, I’m ready to get you down here,’ I feel like when I go down there, I’m going to have fun.”
Running the string back across the map of the country, Wright also re-ignited his relationship with USC after a recent talk head coach Clay Helton. He sent him a message to let him know that the Trojans are still very much in the mix for his commitment despite all the attention that other programs have had in regards to him.
“I like USC too, because you know it’s always hot,” he said. “They breed receivers out there … I’m going to take an official before the end of spring. Last week I texted the coach because he thought they were out of the race, but I had to let them know they’re still in it.”
Another clue to the case his mention of the climate. Even after positive visits to Michigan and Notre Dame in recent weeks, colder weather seems to a high hurdle for each program to clear in their pursuit of him. In more recent news, Wright squeezed in a visit to Texas on Saturday and spent a fair amount of time with recent commit Jordan Whittington and 2018 signee Brennan Eagles, fueling the speculation that the Longhorns are still climbing on his list of favorites.
