Texas lineman shifts some of his favorites

Jonathan White, the 6-foot-3 ½, 260 pound offensive lineman from Huffman, Texas, has attracted some attention so far, but he is still looking for his first offer.
‘’Nebraska’’ is recruiting him the hardest at this time. ‘’I get one (letter) every week or every two weeks from them,’’ Jonathan said. ‘’They tell me about their offenses and defenses and I called them once. They said that I was on their list to be watching.’’

He did not stay away from the summer camps. ‘’I went to Mississippi, TCU and Baylor (camps) and I went to the Houston combine and Nike camp.’’
His best 40 yard dash time is 5.2 at his school. His 40 times at the summer camps ranged from 5.3 to 5.4 with an average of 5.3. ‘’My best bench is 330 and my best squat is 500.’’ His best vertical was 25 inches and his pro agility time was right at 4.8.
Last season he did not allow any sacks while playing on the offensive line for Hargrave High School.
Mississippi, Texas Christian and Baylor gave him some encouragement. ‘’They told me that they would be watching me and to keep in contact over the summer," White said. ‘’So far I have not heard from Rice, but I just got two letters from them and they want me to go watch a game. I will probably do that. TCU told me at the camp, that I could get tickets to their games.’’
He is being looked at for a variety of positions. ‘’I have heard on the offensive line at guard, possibly tight end, defensive tackle, defensive end and one said a possible middle linebacker position.’’
He plays mostly on the offensive side, but he does like the defensive side also. He gave up zero sacks last season.
His strong points on offense – ‘’Pass blocking and getting my down field blocks.’’ He feels that his footwork is real good.
His strong point on defense – ‘’Finding the ball and getting to the ball and my pass rush.’’
Texas Christian - ‘’I like TCU. I like the campus and the coaches. I liked their routine when I went to their camp.’’
Houston – “U of H (Houston), they are close to my house and I like their facilities. One of my old teammates plays for them right now.’’
Nebraska – ‘’They are just a good football team. I just watched them (on TV). Most of the letters have come from there. They said that they would be watching my games.’’
Texas A&M – ‘’I have not gotten that much from them, but I just like them. I like their campus and facilities.’’
Mississippi – ‘’That is where all of my family is from, but they have only sent one letter. They were at the top of my list.’’
His first game is this Friday night and his favorites schools – Houston, Nebraska, Texas Christian, Texas A&M and Mississippi will be getting film from his school over the next few games.
