One of the fastest rising players in the state of Texas has lined up his first official visit. So where is San Antonio Taft linebacker Darnell Smith set to visit?
"I'm going to visit Oklahoma State on Jan. 11," Smith, who is 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, said. "They just started to call me really heavy, and I'm very interested in them.
"They beat Oklahoma this season, and they are the school that my favorite player went to. I'm a huge Barry Sanders fan."
But Oklahoma State isn't the only team after him. Smith, who blew up in the state playoffs and proved that he is a big-time linebacker, has offers from Southwest Texas, Purdue and Rice and is also getting looks from OSU and Texas Tech.
"It's good to see the attention coming," Smith said. "I worked hard and that hard work is paying off."
