Texas LB ready to blow up

Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints has had a few top prospects in the past but next year's team at the school is simply loaded. The latest player to emerge is defensive end Xavier Phillips.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker prospect recently picked up a handful of offers.

"I've been offered by Duke, Yale, Harvard and Air Force," Phillips said. "Most of them came in early in the spring but Duke offered me last week. Cornell, Penn and Princeton are also really interested."
Phillips looks to be on the verge of offers from several other schools as well.
"A lot of other schools are coming down for spring so I should have more offers in the next few weeks or so," he said. "I'm hearing a lot from Penn State, Georgia Tech, NC State, Northwestern, Rice, Tulsa, Baylor, Navy and Connecticut. UCF and UTSA have said they're definitely going to offer in the spring as well.
"This spring I visited (Texas) A&M, Baylor, TCU, all the Ivy schools, Rice and Tulsa."
Phillips plays a little bit of everything for All Saints but colleges are looking at him for a specific position at the next level.
"Most schools like me at outside linebacker," he said. "I play both d-end and outside linebacker right now - sort of just a little bit of everything. I feel comfortable at linebacker for sure."
For the moment Phillips says he has no favorites but that will change in relatively short order.
"Right now I'm sort of just soaking everything in," he said. "This summer I'm going to start getting a little tunnel vision and looking at my top schools."
As a junior Phillips tallied 96 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and three fumble recoveries.
