Texas LB plays waiting game

Two-star inside linebacker Anthony Smith of Friendswood (Texas) Clear Brook is currently just trying to wait out the recruiting process and hope for a D-I offer. Since losing touch with UTEP, contact with D-I schools has become limited for the 6-foot-1, 207-pounder.
"D-I schools have pretty much dropped out," Smith said. "TCU and Louisiana Tech are still talking to me. But I don't know if they're going to offer. It's getting kind of late."

However, Smith has still been looking at some smaller schools.
"I just took a visit to Texas A&M Kingsville, which is a D-II school," Smith said.
Smith has stayed determined to hold out and hope for a D-1 offer and he might get his chance.
"I've just been trying to wait it out," Smith said. "I want to play D-I so I've been waiting it out. La Tech told me they're getting started late because they got their new coach. They said they're looking for some linebackers and I'm on their list."
While Smith says he is unsure of a possible visit to Louisiana Tech, he will be taking another visit this week.
"I'm going to TCU on Wednesday," Smith said. "It's not an official visit. It's just more of an academic visit to check out the school."
Smith is already thinking plan-B just in case the Bulldogs don't come through with an offer for him.
"If I don't get a D-I offer then I'll probably end up at Kingsville," Smith said.
