San Antonio (Texas) O'Connor two-star outside linebacker/safety Jarek Lancaster had been a long-time Rice commitment.

And Stanford's persistence paid off.
"He chose Stanford over Rice based on the Engineering program and his future as a student," Lancaster's mother said. "He will be playing strong safety, and not outside linebacker at Stanford."
As a junior, Lancaster earned all-area and all-state honors on his way to a season that had 100 tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery.
