Texas LB makes in-state pledge

Staying close to home was a big factor for Converse (Texas) Judson outside linebacker Travis Houston and that is what it came down to before a decision was made.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder had quite the offer list that included Baylor, Tulane, Navy, SMU, UTEP, and Texas State. In the end, his father Tim Houston, said it was about his son's decision and he made the best one in order to stay near his family.

"He's made a decision and he's going to Texas State," Houston's father said. "We were supposed to go to Baylor this weekend, but I have already called and told them that we wouldn't be making that trip."
"He just liked that program. It was close to home and their situation was ideal because they've got the position that he'll be able to redshirt in and keep his eligibility."
Houston's father said that it's a good mix of comfort and being just down the road from home.
"It's right close to home, so that was good too," Houston said. "He's happy and basically, you can boil the whole thing down to that. I don't have to play, but he is. That was important that he found somewhere that he felt comfortable with the situation."
"He'll have time to really work into his spot with them."
