Texas LB lands first offer
Texarkana (Texas) Texas linebacker Chris Collins has several schools in pursuit of him and the first scholarship offer has come in for the 6-foot-1, 230-pounder.
“Texas has offered Chris a scholarship,” Texarkana Texas coach Barry Norton said. “It came earlier this week. It is the first offer he has received.”

The offer won’t likely be the last one with schools like Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Michigan, LSU and USC in pursuit.
“He has a lot of good schools showing interest in him,” Norton said. “He knows it is early in this whole process so he isn’t going to rush it.”
Norton is looking for Collins to become the leader of his defense in 2004.
“He knows we are going to be leaning on him this fall. We have a lot of younger guys who will be playing big roles for us, so his experience on the field will be key.”
