Texas LB holding several offers

Rowlett, Texas linebacker Jared Norton has schools from all across the country showing interest including several who have extended scholarship offers. The talented prospect put up good numbers as a junior and his coach believes he will do it again during the 2005 season.
"Jared had a real good year for us last fall," Rowlett coach Kiff Harden said. "The schools noticed it when he did well and they are staying on him because of it. I have no reason to think he won't do it again."

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Norton recorded 131 tackles during his junior season despite missing two games with an ankle injury.
"He missed those two games, or the numbers would have been higher. He's all healed up from that and ready to go."
The list of schools showing interest include scholarship offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, Purdue, Arizona, and Mississippi State. North Carolina State, Notre dame, Vanderbilt and Nebraska are expressing interest as well.
"I don't think he is favoring anyone school," Harden said. "He's keeping his options open and checking everything out. Teams are going to stay on him until he makes his decision.
"He is a real solid linebacker. He is very aggressive and has a very good knack for getting to the ball. Then when he gets there, he brings something for the carrier to remember. He is a pretty dominant player."
