Texas LB could be Boise bound

Brenham (Texas) Blinn College linebacker Dextrell Simmons has been one of the most impressive defenders for the Bucs the last two seasons. He played an integral role in helping lead them to the NJCAA national championship a year ago.
The 6-foot, 210-pound Simmons is now set to graduate this month and has a decision to make on where to continue his career at the next level. He has several options.

"I have a couple of offers right now," Simmons said. "Colorado State, Western Kentucky and Houston are the bigger schools that have offered."
One national powerhouse has not yet offered but will be receiving a visit from Simmons this weekend. It will be his second official visit.
"I'm going on a visit this weekend," he said. "I'm going up to Boise State. I think I'm going to make that my final visit. I've been on unofficial visits to (Texas) A&M and Houston. I went on an official visit to Southern Illinois."
There appears to be a good chance that the Broncos add their name to his offer list during the trip.
"I don't have an offer from them yet," Simmons said of Boise State. "They are supposed to offer when I come up there this weekend. They came down here the other day. We went to Houston and they visited with my family."
If the Broncos do offer Simmons this weekend, a commitment could soon follow.
"They're at the top," he said. "They're No. 1 right now. If they offer, that's most likely where I'll be going."
Simmons plays outside linebacker at Blinn but could see a slight position change at the next level.
"Boise wants me to play rover, like a nickel back," he said. "Everybody else wants me to play linebacker."
In nine games this season, the Spring (Texas) Westfield product tallied 54 tackles, including nine for losses, one sack, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
